sometimes my day will be perfectly fine, and that i’ll have one thought and i’ll spiral right into overthinking and worrying. Coming up with worst case scenarios for every aspect of my life, and negative what-ifs about anything that comes to mind.

worrying and overthinking is something that can mess with a lot of things. It can mess with friendships, attitudes, and the way we handle a lot of different things in life. The reality is, though, that most of the things we worry about are completely or partially out of our control.  Sometimes theres things we can do to change or help fix the situation, but a lot of times, that isn’t an option.

in those times, we need to remind ourselves that God already has everything we’re worrying about all figured out. Whatever it is that you’re worried about, whether its a reality or something that your tricking yourself into thinking, God already knows the answer and the outcome. He is already working in your situation.

whenever you begin to worry, begin to pray. Every time I start to go down a spiral, that is my reminder to lift up my requests to the Lord. Every time I begin to freak out and think of a worse case scenario, that is my reminder to go to God with my worries.

In Philippians 4, it says this:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

that verse is my daily reminder to pray, whether I’m worried about something or not. After you take a minute to talk to God, and ask him for what you need, you get to make a decision. You can decide if you’re going to continue worrying, or be at peace with your situation and the things that are out of your control, and focus on God.  Prayers are powerful, and when you pray, God moves. Instead of worrying about your situation, bring your worries and troubles to God, pray for peace, and then give it to God and focus on his goodness and how he is working even when we can’t see it.

a little real life example, the fast few months ive been confused about a friendship dynamic, and one second thought this person hated me and the next minute we were best friends again. the whole time, I tried to assume the best and not let the overthinking crowd my mind, and just think, maybe they’re just trying to figure out how to be friends. I prayed about it a lot and that situation was resolved yesterday, and it was exactly what I thought, and i’m glad I didn’t waste too much time worrying about the negative outcomes.

hope this encouraged you today ❤️
